Sailing rudder for kayaks and canoes The SmartTrack Original complemented by components from em².
It is ideally suited for sailing.
The rudder is designed in such a way that it is not possible for the blade to turn over when the boat is moving backwards, so the rudder lines cannot get tangled.
The rudder blade is pre-balanced: the blade is vertical, part of the rudder surface is in front of the rudder axis. This reduces the steering forces enormously and makes steering while sailing more relaxed.
The rudder blade has a perfect airflow profile and is bend-resistant due to the high fibre content.
Optionally, a tiller can be attached to the head plate when sailing.
The downhaul is taken over by an integrated spring.
The rudder fitting can vary. For the Prospector in the picture, the fitting for the pouch happens to fit. The Smart Track Original rudder fitting (item ST44-410) is standard.
We have a batch of PP (polypropylene) that is slightly wavy. We offer these as second choice.
SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) are the first choice rudder blades. The material is much more expensive and the holding time in the press is 10 times longer. On the other hand, rudder blades made of SMC have a smoother surface, are straight and have even higher strength values.
